How combining advanced materials technology and Industry 4.0 techniques are key to making the Sheffield City Region a modern manufacturing powerhouse
Marylebone – Difference Marketing client Hampleton Partners, the international technology M&A advisory firm is co-hosting an event on the role of advanced materials: how these will allow manufacturers to make leaps in productivity, efficiency and competitiveness and the impact they will have on the Sheffield City Region’s future as a world centre for materials innovation and technology.
The event, titled The Future for Advanced Materials in Manufacturing – What 2018 holds for Sheffield City Region as a world centre for innovation and application is the second in the `Reinventing the Northern Economy` series being held to generate discussion, action and partnerships around the theme of Industry 4.0.
The event, in conjunction with UK-wide law firm Freeths, brings together local, private and public sector hi-tech business leaders; entrepreneurs; investors; academics; legal and finance experts who are all combining to drive the manufacturing renaissance in Sheffield City Region.

The Sheffield City Region already contains a wealth of world-class companies and state-of-the-art industrial metal and composite research facilities, but these need to grasp new opportunities. The next five years will see more changes in industrial operations than the previous twenty as we enter a phase of unprecedented acceleration in automation and data exchange in the manufacturing and distribution industries.
Industry 4.0 will involve technologies such as cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things and cloud computing, which will, together, create the “smart factories” of the future whilst the integration of information and operational technologies and the application of cybersecurity, diagnostics and artificial intelligence to deliver faster time to market and efficiency of distribution.
